United States: Donald Trump is getting more aggressive in his attacks on Kamala Harris as he trails in the polls. He’s questioning her background and suggesting that she might not be truly American. Trump has even made comments about her last name and where she “came from,” trying to cast doubt on her legitimacy as a candidate.
As reported by Times of India, he also remarked that she cannot even vie for the presidency of the United States, citing among other reasons that she humiliatingly ‘coup’ Joe Biden. “If they knew where she was from, where she came from, what her ideology is,” Trump said at a campaign rally on Monday in York, Pennsylvania — a swing state where he is slowly losing some ground in the polls after leading the polls when Biden was the Democratic candidate.
Accusations and Controversies
He is now calling Kamala father, Donald Harris a “Marxist economist” and “Marxist professor” and suggesting that she might have borrowed her “socialist” and “communist” views from him. Harris ‘ father Donald Harris was a student from Jamaica who as part of his major studies at university in international development automatically was exposed to Marx and his theories.
All his life he associated with several Indian leftist economists including Amartya Sen, Ajit Singh, Meghnad Desai, and Kapila Dewan He also taught briefly at Delhi School of Economics in the late 1960 before his first marriage to Shyamala Gopalan – mother of Kamala Harris – dissolved.
Claims of Voter Suppression
Voter suppression is also observable in the moves embarked on by Trump to marginalize Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate just like he has done to Barack Obama by doubting his American birth and using his middle name Hussein – an Islamic name – to bait him. He has also demonized other minority legislators comprising of the likes of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, ordering them to go to their countries.

It is also quite common to see Trump being trolled by the Harris camp; in fact the camp recently attempted to project messages on Trump Tower in Chicago.
One message beamed on the building last night read: ”Trump-Vance weird as hell. “Trump has reacted in anger to be labelled as weird (and once dismissed that he is the one being called Vance, weird), but more hackery is set to come with pro-Kamala groups releasing videos and memes ridiculing what they believe is the former president’s cognitive decay and pathological narcissism. Trump has also started to refer to her as ‘Comrade Kamala Harris’.
